Railcard Prices Information

 

After being frozen for over a decade, the price of most 1-year and 3-year Railcards will increase on Sunday 2 March 2025. Railcard customers save an average of £158 a year*, over 4 times the new price of a 1-year Railcard.

 

From 22:00 on Saturday 1 March until 2:30 on Sunday 2 March we will be updating the Railcard website. During this period of site maintenance it will not be possible to buy, renew or request a replacement Railcard. There won't be any delay to you receiving a physical Railcard you have already ordered.

 

How much will a Railcard cost?

 

  • The 1-year 16-17 Saver, 16-25 Railcard, 26-30 Railcard, Family & Friends Railcard, Network Railcard, Senior Railcard, Two Together Railcard and Veterans Railcard will be £35
  • The 3-year 16-25 Railcard, Family & Friends Railcard, Senior Railcard and Veterans Railcard will be £80
     
  • The Disabled Persons Railcard will remain at its current price of £20 for a 1-year Railcard and £54 for a 3-year Railcard

Why is the price of a Railcard changing?

After being frozen for over a decade the cost of most Railcards, excluding the Disabled Persons Railcard, will increase on Sunday 2 March 2025. When the new prices come into effect, the additional £5 for a 1-year Railcard and £10 for a 3-year Railcard will go towards keeping train services running, funding improvements and delivering a more reliable and sustainable service with a better overall experience for passengers.

 

What is the price of a Railcard changing to?

From Sunday 2 March 2025, the cost for the 1-year 16-17 Saver, 16-25 Railcard, 26-30 Railcard, Family & Friends Railcard, Network Railcard, Senior Railcard, Two Together Railcard and Veterans Railcard will be £35.

No, the cost of the Disabled Persons Railcard will remain at £20 for a 1-year and £54 for a 3-year card.

 

Why will the website be down from 22:00 on Saturday 1 March until 7:00 on Sunday 2 March?


For us to implement the Railcard price change we need to take the websites down to make the necessary updates. We wanted to give our customers as much notice as possible, which is why we began communicating news of the price increase on our website, via email and across our social media channels since January.

 

Will I be able to buy or renew a Railcard from 22:00 on Saturday 1 March until 7:00 on Sunday 2 March?


No. It will not be possible to buy, renew or request a replacement Railcard whilst the website is down to be updated.

 

Will my Railcard application be available if I don’t complete my order by 22:00 on Saturday 1 March?


No. Any Railcard applications that have not been completed by 22:00 on Saturday 1 March will be removed from your basket and will not be saved.

 

My Railcard isn't due for renewal until after 2 March 2025, can I renew it now and carry the remaining months over?

You can only renew your Railcard up to 30 days in advance in order for your new Railcard to start from the expiry date of your old Railcard.
